Back to Lincoln Center!

Well, looks like its back to Lincoln Center for me! I'll be dressing The Met Opera's production of Boris Gudunov. Sweet. Divas and 4 hour shows? No problem!

ABT Met Season Ends...

Well words cant even describe how much I loved working as a Dresser for American Ballet Theatre's 2010 Met Season. Every time I would walk up those steps to Lincoln Center I thought about how lucky I was to be there. Every night that I got a chance to watch from the wings I would get chills.

I made it a point to take in and appreciate that I loved being at work. Sure there were grumpy days full of sweaty and stinky costumes. There were rare moments of Ballerina Divas claiming they didn't have a hat or someone stole their tights.. Sometimes it was really hot and sometimes it was really cold. Burly Local One guys would yell at you if you were standing in the wrong spot. Maybe you'd have to smash a cockroach or two, but hey, it was worth it.

Because for all the sweat and stink and grumpiness there was everything else. Unbelievably talented and dedicated artists. Amazing supportive friends who watch each other from the wings. Some of the goofiest people I have ever met. The magic of being moved by movement and music 8 shows a week.

Thanks ABT! I cant wait till the next one!

Philip Glass- Violin Concerto

I am obsessed with Philip Glass's Violin Concerto. Please listen. I think the third movement might be my favorite.

I think both my parents have choreographed to this piece and my sister has danced to it. It is so moving to me.

If you dont know Glass by this piece, he has also composed the score to a few well known movies: Notes on a Scandal, The Illusionist, The Hours and contributions to many other films and television shows.

Step in Time

Did anyone else watch Mary Poppins the other night on ABC Family? It really is a superb movie musical. Step in Time might be one of the best dance numbers ever:

Lame

Sorry guys. I feel like I've been a super lame blogger lately. I've just been so exhausted these past few weeks. I've been de-stressing to the sounds of the uber talented Brandi Carlile.

I have The Story on repeat.

I am counting down the days till we hop the train to Fairport for Turkey Day! I have agreed to go to a Bills game again. I think my mind may have still been numb when I wrote that post last year because it was REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY COLD! The coldest I have ever been. This years game isnt any earlier, but it is during the day rather than at night so.... and also its been a much milder November so far so.... AND I have a much warmer winter coat and boots so.... Yeah, no. Im gonna be cold. Dash it'all!

One Hand, One Heart

I will be walking the isle to "One Hand, One Heart" from West Side Story.

Lyrics to "One Hand, One Heart"
from West Side Story

Make of our hands one hand,
Make of our hearts one heart,
Make of our vows one last vow:
Only death will part us now.
Make of our lives one life,
Day after day, one life.
Now it begins, now we start
One hand, one heart;
Even death won't part us now.

-Music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
