"May the Games be ever in your favor..."

I have separation sadness after finishing The Hunger Games trilogy. They were quick and addictive reads, but real and emotional too. I cried when I finished Mockingjay last night. Sooo good people!

If you read them or already have, let me know what you think!

The Magicians

So, I just finished reading The Magicians by Lev Grossman, and I thought it was really excellent!

It features Quentin, a teenage Park Slope wiz kid headed for Princeton and a life of mundane repetition. But then his ultimate geek, CS Lewis, Dungeons and Dragons fantasy comes true. He has the potential to attend a magical school and learn about everything magical. But as we know, when fantasies come true they aren't always what they're cracked up to be and faerie tales can turn dark and ugly.

The sequel is due next summer and I really cant wait to read what happens next for Q and his friends- who's left of them.

I highley recommend!

Mark Reads Harry Potter

So... I've found a new way to be obsessed with Harry Potter. It's through this blog:

Mark Reads Harry Potter.

It's pretty self explanatory. Mark is reading the Harry Potter series for the first time and blogging about each chapter. If you want to relive those glorious moments of suspense from day of yore... check it out.

Its Harry Potter time again...

Have you seen the new Harry Potter Deathly Hallows trailer?

I've watched it about 10 times so far. Super excited!

In other news- I've GOT to get a handle on my serious sugar addiction.

I think after I quite smoking (over 3 years ago) I transfer addicted because eating a cookie or candy bar gives me that same sort of satisfaction. Does anyone else struggle with this or have you overcome it? Tomorrow Im going to buy some reading on the subject.

Life outside the Opera House...

Sheesh, you'd think all I did was hook ballerinas into tutus! Well yes, there is a lot of that. However, this week I have found a wee bit of time to do other things as well. Like, on Sunday Eric and I ventured to BK's Prospect Park.

It was a lovely day until our friend got run down by a cyclist! They were both ok, but it was scary.

I also read and thoroughly enjoyed The Good Thief.

Its kind of a New England/ Oliver Twist tale and a nice, easy summer read.

Today I also got a new pedicure with OPI Dim Sum Plumb.

See, I still have a little bit of a life left outside the Opera House!
