Me and T

Guys, I have a confession to make. Yesterday I met a celebrity at Esprit and I totally geeked out about it. The thing is, when you live in NYC you're supposed to act like seeing celebs is no big deal. This isn't LA where celebs are staked all over town. I mean I've lived here for nine years and Ive seen/ meet/ partied with a slew of celebs that never really made me all nervous... until today. You guys, I met (and provided excellent customer service to) HGTV's Taniya Nayak!

As I have previously stated, I love her and I think we are long lost friends, hence my super geekiness at meeting her! It went pretty much like this...

Me: I just have to say, I am a huge fan.

T: Oh my gosh, thank you! You're so sweet.

Me: Seriously, Im so excited to meet you. I know how New Yorkers are supposed to be so cool and whatever about meeting celebrities but...

T: Oh please, Im not a celebrity.

Me: Well Im a huge fan. My name is Marissa (we shake hands).

T: Nice to meet you. Im Taniya.

Me: Well, can I help you find anything today...

...and she went on to buy a blue shirt and black ballet flats.

Thanks Taniya! You made my day!

Lost in time...

I'm one of those people who likes to talk about her dreams. I just think dreaming is sooo fascinating. Mine are super vivid and I can almost always remember them. Because I remember them so often, I know when I'm having a stress dream because they always manifest in one of three scenarios. The one I have the least now is the "Falling Elevator" but I used to have that one a lot. Every now and then I have the "Car Crash" but even that one is rare too. Mostly, for as long as I can remember, I have "Tornado" dreams. They are always huge and twisty, and Im running to find shelter. Sometimes there are more than one funnels touching down all around me. Oh, shoooo.... so scary. The other night I think my stress was intertwined with my excitement for the upcoming finale season of Lost! In my dream last night I found out the tornadoes were actually time vortexes that would suck you up and propel you into another dimension in time. Hey, that would soooo happen on the Lost island.

Highlights of Christmas Week

I'm back in the city after a fabulous week with my family! So many people were utterly shocked that Eric and I didn't spend our first married Christmas together.

Example: They: "Hey Marissa! Where's Eric?" Me: "Oh, he's at home with his family." Them: "What! Why?".

I guess I can understand it, but it didn't seem the slightest bit weird to us. We've never spent a Christmas together. We dont buy each other presents. We both value our family time sooooo much that neither one of us can even fathom the idea of not being with them at Christmas. Also, because our respective parental units live so far apart from each other, we could never split the time between them. Thus, we were apart our first married Christmas. We both agreed that until we have a child, and Christmas becomes about them, we'll continue to go our separate ways for the Holiday. Sure I missed him, but I see him almost everyday! I only see the fam. maybe twice a year!! It was a wonderful holiday full of love, and my hubs was only a phone call away.

Highlights of Christmas Week:

1. Watching Bry dance.

2. Margaritas at La Caretta with my girls!

3. Sausage Gravy Biscuits.

4. Getting my family hooked on Lost

5. My new iPod and One Yard Wonders.

Hope you had a fabulous Holiday as well!

Step in Time

Did anyone else watch Mary Poppins the other night on ABC Family? It really is a superb movie musical. Step in Time might be one of the best dance numbers ever:

Highlights of our Thanksgiving

1. The BABIES! Kailyn is sooo talkative now at just past 25 months. Her catch phrase of the week was "It's okay" and saying "Hi Uncle Eric!" and "Hi Aunt Marissa!". It was so awesome to see her calling everyone by name and knowing who goes with who. If I was in the room without Eric she would ask me where he was, and visa versa. So cute. Colin is scooting around and pulling himself up on everything!

2. The Bills game wasn't freezing! In fact, I didn't have to put my coat on until the second quarter! AND the Bills actually WON! Double whammy!

3. Our new TV!! We promised ourselves that our one big purchase with our wedding money would be a flat screen TV. E's friend works at an electronics store and gave us a killer deal! It arrives tomorrow along with our new HD receiver. SOOO EXCITED.

4. Our Wedding Picture Gallery! To view, select Peck Wedding Album. You have to register and make up a user name and password. Then the code is peck2009. We are so happy with them! I cannot recommend McDorman Photography enough! They were a joy.

I hope you guys had a wonderfull holiday as well!

Why I love BBC America

The BBC has, hands down, the BEST documentaries EVER! The program is called BBC America Reveals, and its brilliant! I am constantly intrigued by the stories of some of the most bizarre and fascinating subjects. After seeing Britain's Worst Teeth, I immediately made an appointment with my dentist.

This Sunday at 10 the show Addicted to Surrogacy. Um, what? This lady has incubated 7 babies, and is now trying for number 8! I mean, really. Selfless or a bit coo- coo?

Another favorite of mine was My Fake Baby. That's right, fake baby. These ladies like to collect and care for shockingly lifelike baby dolls. Some of them even have car seats and strollers that they tote them around in!

But the real zinger by FAR was Married to the Eiffel Tower. This focused on women living with ‘objectum sexual’disorder. Basically they love, desire and carry on passionate relationships with inanimate objects. Oh, boy, I cant even begin to describe it. Nothing is off limits. Everything from the Eiffel Tower and Berlin Wall to a fence, bow (as in bow and arrow), and amusement park ride are the objects of these ladies affections. WATCH. IT.

With other episodes named "100 Men Own My Breasts", "Transvestite Wives", and "The Fatest Man on No Legs", the hours of entertainment are vast. Please, please, please stop by BBC America and love it as much as I do!
